Outside Cabin
Obstructed View
E Deck 8

Never having sailed in an outside cabin, we
expected a small dark and somewhat cramped
cabin - we were wrong.  Cabin E604 was bright
with a sort of "tilt your neck, stand on tippy toes
and you can see the sea behind the lifeboat" view.
It was a decent size with a small vanity unit,
reading chair and small round coffee table.

The tv was flat screen but we couldn't get any tv
channels on it - only Ventura promotional channels
which seemed daft when we were already booked
and onboard.  Also the movies were a total no go
at £5.95 each!  Why that is when RCI have free
movie channels we don't know.  Anyhoo.....the
beds were comfortable and even though they were
made up into a twin when we first arrived, our
friendly steward Mathew (one "t") soon turned
them into a comfortable queen for us.

As you can see from this photo - the reading lights
were much improved (I am thinking back to the
one's on Arcadia where they are positioned
behind your pillow!!!).  Other than the small
bedside table drawer though I did miss the lack of
any other drawer space for hairbrush, make up,
undies etc.  Storage wise however there was a
two shelf cupboard by the vanity unit (see above)
and one tall thin cupboard with six shelves which
    housed the safe.
The safe is a pretty good size. You'd fit your camera,
docs and probably a small video camera in there. It
operates by you punching in a number of your choice.
Make sure you hold the door shut until it clicks locked
though.  I kept letting go too early and the damn thing
would pop open again!
For wardrobe space, P&O held back on providing
doors which granted did give the feeling of more
space but obviously you cant shut the door on your
shoes and clothes when you've rushed back to the
cabin and thrown something in haste into your
wardrobe....hope I'm not the only one who does
    that!
The shelf above the wardrobe is probably about
six foot.  Luckily my husband is 6'2 so he was able
to check that we hadn't left anything up there when
we departed.  For anyone my height (5'6) or even
a little taller - this shelf is a no go area as you can't
see what's up there, can't reach it anyway and only
worry you'll leave something behind.  This was a
poor design decision I felt.  My husband however
is available to escort you on your cruise and assist
with this shelf if need be...as long as I can come
    too!
P&O don't stock their fridges, so don't expect any choccie or soft
drinks.  Water and an empty ice bucket are all you get!
Out of our group of six we were the only
couple not to realise that the tea, coffee
and milk were stored inside the stainless
steel teapot etc. Okay we didn't look - but
I'm sure we weren't the only ones.

P&O have given you a nice glass in a
stainless steel holder to drink your tea out
of.  Not a cup and saucer (did anyone just
hear that loud gasp that echoed around
P&O land!!)  Its ridiculous - apparently
when you empty the tea dregs down the
sink the glass falls out of the stainless steal
holder which is of course not a good thing.
There is also a cafetiere - why? - don't ask.
But again - design over practicality.
The lids too were quite tight on the various pots so anyone who has trouble with their hands will
struggle.  One good thing though - the kettle plug is the one plug in the cabin that will probably take a
large charger plug as its high enough off the counter for an odd shaped plug to fit.
DO TAKE YOUR EXTENSION CABLE THOUGH FOLKS for charging cameras, phones and using
hairdryers etc.  There are only 3 plugs on the cabin (2 are by the vanity desk and are too low down to
take any sort of charger shaped plug).
