Johnny Rockets Diner

If I never eat a burger again it will be too
soon!  The double burger I had at Johnny
Rockets will last me a lifetime.

My big mistake?  Ordering extra Swiss
Cheese!  How was I to know that the burger
would be the size of Christmas and already
have mountains of cheese on it.

Johnny Rockets is not to be missed.  Just
don't eat there 4 hours before dinner.  I ended
up having an appetiser for my entree in the
dining room that night as I was still full!

We went to JR's at about 2 o'clock.  The cover
charge is $3.95 per person but we had two
free tickets in our Gold Members booklet.
The shakes and malts were $4.10.  There
was a small queue for tables but we only had
to wait about ten minutes.  Stayin' Alive
suddenly blared out and all the waiters began
dancing in the aisle which was fun.

We were given a booth for four, and within
seconds of sitting down a plate of onion rings
and some fries were put on the table.  Our
waitress brought over an empty plate and
proceeded to draw a smiley face on it in
ketchup.  There was also a dip to dunk your
    fries and rings in.

I ordered a Chocolate milkshake and the
Rocket Double (but for some reason I seem
to remember this being called the Royal
Double but I could be wrong).  Mr Wakelover
had The Smoke House and a Strawberry
milkshake which he thought was the best he'd
ever had.  My parents both chickened out and
had the Original burger and no milkshake....
light weights!!! (but at least they ate their
dinner in the dining room later!)

I ate half my burger and gave it to Mr
Wakelover, who took no effort to finish it off.  I
    think he has hollow legs!

The waitress came to take our dessert order.
We all said we didn't want one until the
waitress mentioned chocolate and my mother
placed an order for a chocolate brownie
sundae (the name of which escapes me, but
you'll recognise it when it comes out of the
kitchen as its about 8 inches high and
    covered in chocolate!!)  The waitress
convinced me, much against my better
judgement, to try the apple pie.  I agreed but
    couldn't eat it.

I left Johnny Rockets feeling rather ill.  Not
because the food was bad, just because it
was the last but one day to the end of our
cruise and we had already consumed our
body weight in food.  The visit to JR just broke
    the camels back!

But its not to be missed....I highly recommend
it.  There opening hours were usually 11.30am
to Midnight but this is subject to change as on
some days it opened at 2pm.  Whatever time
you go, just don't eat for 4 days beforehand!!!
