| The Solarium Pool |

school children on the ship and yet we never saw any venture into the Solarium. The pool is salt water and was freeeeeezing....but on one particularly hot day it was fantastic to cool off. The photo (left) doesn't do it justice and makes it look smaller than it actually is. There were plenty of chairs available in both sun and shade which suited my parents as one likes the sun and the other, shade! We came here most days to swim or just sit and read. The loungers were very comfy so even a good page turning book will be beaten by the numerous naps you find yourself taking! There are reclining chairs around the pool adjustable to a comfy reading position or to enable you to lay flat. Near the windows are more loungers and also upright chairs which are non adjustable but great for reading. There are two large hot tubs and they were superb. Really warm and fantastic to get into if you have had a dip in the cool pool. If the weather is slightly inclement they are a welcome relief! The bar service was very good. Arnold (if I remember rightly) was always very friendly. There were plentiful supplies of fresh towels and the pool staff kept the area clean and tidy. The staff here were very good at maintaining the tidiness of this area. Smokers can sit starboard side if they so wish as ashtrays are provided. There are superb views from the glass walls (just visible on the photo) and plenty of loungers here too. Two showers are provided but when I used them they were ice, and I mean ice, cold! We loved it here and all the rules and regs of no children or chair hogging seem to be observed. We had no problem finding seats any time of day and as I said it was very peaceful, expect that is for the snores that echoed around due to the relaxing environment!!!! Good job RCI...the Solarium met all your promises! |
